Pityriasis amiantacea: sticky scale due to underlying psoriasis or seborrheic

Is a condition in which there is excessive scaling of the scalp. Thick silvery or yellowish scales it encircle the hair shafts and may bind down tuffs of hair.

The scales might resemble asbestos, giving rise to the term amiantacea – that the French term meaning asbestos is amiante.
